Waterfalls & Puffins in the Lands of the Vikings -    New Suzy’s Signature Trip

  The Faroe Islands, Denmark.

  July 8-16, 2027

Unspoiled, unexplored, unbelievable!

Where’s a place that visitors describe as “the most beautiful place on Earth”—a place that is wild, remote, authentic, and unforgettable? The hidden gems of the Faroe Islands are Europe’s best-kept secret.

Our new AFS journey takes us into an untouched land of dramatic mountains spilling into the Atlantic, emerald valleys, puffin colonies, tiny turf-roof villages frozen in time, and some of the most scenic hikes in the world. It’s simply majestic, and I can hardly wait.

Our adventure begins in wonderful Copenhagen, one of Europe’s most stylish and welcoming capitals. Together, we stroll along the colorful harbor, cruise scenic canals, taste Danish delights, learn about Viking history, and, of course, see the Little Mermaid.

We then fly SAS to the Faroes to experience breathtaking cliffside walks, marine and bird life, world-class cuisine, and boat tours along stunning coastlines. Based in the capital of Tórshavn, we unpack only once while visiting all the iconic sites in places that no one can pronounce. You’ll love mingling with the locals because they love visitors! Each day is a bird lover’s and photographer’s delight!

Unique highlights: Visit Mykines Island, with its towering cliffs, to see puffins nesting just steps away from your trail. Cruise to the Vestmanna Bird Cliffs, accessible only by boat, to view sea caves and 1,500-foot cliffs as hundreds of seabirds circle overhead. Visit the postcard-perfect villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, with Múlafossur Waterfall. Step back in time at Kirkjubøur and Tinganes, where Faroese culture began centuries ago. Walk to the famous “floating lake” to witness the optical illusion of Sørvágsvatn suspended high above the ocean—the Faroes’ most famous site.

July is the best time to visit the Faroes, with average temperatures of 60°, long days with 19 hours of sunlight, and fantastic puffins! Air travel is easy, round-trip to Copenhagen, as we handle all the rest including nearly all meals.  (You could do this on your own, but it’s way more fun with AFS, and it’s easy to add more countries to your trip on the new European Sleeper train, which can whisk you anywhere from here.)

If you love scenic nature, this unique Danish escape is for you. Come join me, dear explorers, at 60° north, for a summer getaway to a place unlike anywhere else on the planet.

FYI, did you know?

The Faroe Islands have their own unique Nordic culture, language, traditions, music, and cuisine, all distinct from those of other Scandinavian countries.

Compared to Iceland, the Faroe Islands are very uncrowded, allowing visitors to feel completely alone in an extraordinary landscape.

Travelers call the islands “road-trip heaven” because of the stunning tunnels, bridges, and mountain passes that make every drive an adventure.

Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards ranked the Faroe Islands among the most beautiful islands in Europe.
